Meet Your Licensed Therapist
Amanda Frudakis-Ruckel, LCSW, TCTSY-F
Amanda (she/her) is a psychotherapist based in Long Valley, New Jersey, and the founder of Person-to-Person Psychotherapy and Counseling. Known for her compassionate approach, she’s recognized as a highly sensitive therapist who brings warmth and a note of humor to her work. Amanda serves as a Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator, speaker, clinical supervisor, and contributor.
This practice is proudly LGBTQ+ affirming— we recognize and honor the diverse ways people live, love, identify, and express themselves.
Before we talk about what therapy is, lets get clear about what therapy isn't.
First... what therapy isn't...
-
Labeling you with a diagnosis
-
giving you step-by-step instructions or quick behavioral fixes
-
reframing everything in a positive light (optimism for its own sake)
-
promoting any particular belief system including religious or spiritual beliefs
-
A passive or blank slate therapist who is a distant observer

Instead... therapy is...
-
Understanding a person's lived experience, not assigning psychiatric labels
-
Exploration, not correction. Depth, not quick fixes- focusing on meaning, choice, and values.
-
Embracing existential anxiety, discomfort, and conflict as a meaningful part of life rather than problems to be denied or erased.
-
Groundings in philosophy, not theology
-
An authentic human-to-human encounter where both client and therapist engage and work together.
About Insight- Oriented Psychotherapy for a Well-Lived Life
If you only focus on how things are, you might miss the chance to build something new. What if, instead of waiting for proof that life can be different, you started creating the life you want? Insight-oriented psychotherapy can help you make this shift—because maybe the limits you’ve accepted aren’t limits at all, but an invitation to explore what’s possible.

STEP 1
Reach Out to Amanda
The best and quickest way to get in touch is by email at info@person2persontherapy.com. You’re welcome to ask any questions you have about the therapy process and explore fit. If it feels helpful to talk over the phone, you can book a brief call through the Book Consult page.

STEP 2
Schedule Your First Session
Once we’ve connected and you feel ready, we’ll find a time for your first session. Most of our work happens virtually, making it easy to fit therapy into your life. If you’re local and interested, I also offer outdoor Walk-and-Talk sessions during the spring and fall.

STEP 3
Begin Your Therapy
From there, we’ll take it one step at a time. Whether we’re meeting online or walking side by side, therapy is a space for you to show up just as you are.

Individual psychotherapy, informed by over a decade of listening, learning, and helping

At Person-to-Person Psychotherapy and Counseling, we do things a little differently. Unlike some therapy platforms that match you with early-career or pre-licensed clinicians, here you’ll be working with a fully licensed psychotherapist with over a decade of real-world experience.

We also don’t work out of a traditional office space. Most of our sessions take place virtually, giving you the flexibility and privacy to engage in therapy from the comfort of your own home. For those who prefer in-person connection, we offer seasonal Walk-and-Talk sessions outdoors during the spring and fall months.

Common questions about therapy, answered
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or just curious about understanding yourself in a deeper way—therapy could be a good fit. Some people come in with a clear goal, others aren’t sure where to start. Either way is welcome. Therapy is a space to explore whatever is on your mind and heart, at your own pace.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially in the beginning when we’re building connection and momentum. Over time, we may adjust the frequency to biweekly or whatever feels most supportive and sustainable for you.
Will I be working with an experienced therapist?
Are you in-network with insurance?
I’m a private-pay provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. However, I’m happy to provide a receipt that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers that.

Many people are surprised to find that with high deductibles, they might be paying out-of-pocket anyway—so it’s always a good idea to check with your insurance provider. I’m happy to help walk you through how to check your benefits if that feels helpful.

Private-pay therapy can feel like a bit of a luxury—but it also comes with meaningful benefits: more privacy, more flexibility, and the space for us to shape the work in ways that feel right for you—without the limits that come with insurance. If cost is a deciding factor, I completely understand. I encourage you to explore in-network options. You deserve support, no matter what path you choose.
Yes. While some therapy platforms connect you with pre-licensed or early-career clinicians who are still gaining experience, here you’ll be working with a fully licensed psychotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience. This means your care is informed by years of real-world practice, advanced training, and time spent helping people facing a wide range of life challenges and circumstances.
